Live, in a real story

Alexandra Manousakis: A wine tasting the Cretan terroir.

During Homer’s time in the 8th century BC. In AD, the word Nostos expressed a desire to return, the memory of dear friends, the attachment to the native land or to its roots that we mean by nostalgia today.

Inspired, by this knowledge, the Manousakis wine philosophy is simple

We cultivate our vines carefully to allow them to absorb the unique aromas and essence of the Cretan terroir.

Each bunch of grapes is steeped in a distinctive spirit, containing and preserving the character of the ineffable Lefka Ori mountains.

And that spirit is transformed into taste in each captive wine of one of our bottles of Nostos.
Letting nature express itself: this is what characterizes us.

We invite you to visit us in Vatolakkos village and taste our organic wines.

Whether you want to combine our wines with delicious Cretan specialties or taste them unaccompanied, you will discover a little-known side of Crete anyway.

We offer tastings within our magnificent wine estate, accompanied on the terrace of our restaurant, a range of delicious Cretan specialties.

The vineyard was founded in 1993.

Nostos wines have been praised by wine gurus such as Robert Parker and Jancis Robinson. And we were the first Greek wine to be awarded the silver medal at the international “Grenaches du Monde” competition in 2016. A prestigious reward.

Our vineyard was founded in 1993 by Theodore Manousakis. The founder has produced premium organic wines under the guidance of wine consultants like Laurence Feraud of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Bruce Zoecklein of the University of Virginia. The winery is now run by Théodore’s youngest daughter -Alexandra -and her husband Afshin.
